AceShowbiz - Darryl McDaniels has teamed up with two iconic members of Public Enemy to launch a powerful new supergroup called FREEDOM, bringing back politically charged Hip-Hop at a crucial moment.
The group, which consists of DMC, DJ Johnny Juice, and Brian Hardgroove, is preparing to release their debut single, "I'm On Your Side", on May 15. This track is far more than just another release; it serves as a bold response to a world grappling with corruption, misinformation, and the erosion of democratic values.
Each member brings a wealth of experience and credibility. DMC helped revolutionize Hip-Hop with Run-DMC, while Johnny Juice and Hardgroove were instrumental in shaping the politically conscious sound of Public Enemy. Together, they blend rock, Hip-Hop, and activism to create music that resonates with urgency and relevance.
"I'm On Your Side" is crafted for a time when democracy feels threatened and freedom is increasingly fragile. The song acts as a rallying cry for those determined to reclaim their voices and stand firm against the forces undermining truth. Its compelling rhythm and clear message emphasize unity: freedom thrives when people come together, but divided, society faces peril.
The music video, shot in New York over a single day, was directed by Simon Kinney of Synergy Group Productions, known for his work with artists like Pink, Metallica, and Ed Sheeran. A secondary shoot took place in Santa Fe under co-director Zay Santos, resulting in visuals that match the track’s intensity and urgency.
Alongside the single release, FREEDOM is launching a community platform designed to connect fans directly with the group’s message and offer exclusive merchandise, reinforcing their commitment to activism and engagement through music.
