AceShowbiz - The highly anticipated second season of Dexter: Resurrection has officially added a new cast member renowned for portraying two of horror’s most legendary serial killers. The series, which premiered on Paramount+ with Showtime in July 2025, continues the story of Dexter Morgan after the events of Dexter: New Blood. Season 1 introduced viewers to Dexter awakening from a coma and moving to New York City, where he faces off against Leon Prater, played by Peter Dinklage, a billionaire venture capitalist who secretly leads a society of serial killers.
As production for season 2 commenced on April 13, writer and executive producer Scott Reynolds excitedly announced on social media that Kane Hodder has joined the cast. Hodder is best known for his iconic roles as Jason Voorhees in multiple installments of the Friday the 13th franchise and as Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. Reynolds shared a behind-the-scenes photo with Hodder, captioned: "13 days in. We couldn't fight it. We cast KANE HODDER and let fate do the rest. #DexterResurrrection #kaneHodderTakesManhattan @kanehodder1"
Kane Hodder portrayed Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988), Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993), and Jason X (2001). Additionally, he performed stunts as Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990) and starred as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet film series (2006-2017). Although his exact role in Dexter: Resurrection season 2 remains undisclosed, his horror legacy strongly suggests he will portray another serial killer and likely a member of Leon Prater’s secret society who encounters Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan.
Season 2 has already cast several notable new serial killers. Brian Cox will play Don Framt, also known as the New York Ripper, a dormant serial killer who now taunts his victims. Dan Stevens will portray Owen Stark, dubbed the Five Borough Killer, who resembles the Zodiac Killer by threatening police with calls about upcoming murders. Interestingly, Cox previously portrayed the infamous serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecktor in Michael Mann’s 1986 film Manhunter.
The addition of Hodder raises questions about how many serial killers season 2 will feature, given the already packed roster. Other new cast members include Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon, an NYPD homicide training officer and love interest to Harrison, and Bokeem Woodbine as Captain Mixon, Fiona’s father and a homicide captain. Season 2 will also bring back Uma Thurman reprising her role as Charley Brown.
Notably, Hodder’s past character Jason Voorhees ventured into New York City in Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan, a sequel subtitled The New Blood. This cleverly parallels the premise of Dexter: Resurrection, where Dexter’s adversaries also operate within Manhattan’s urban landscape. Fans can anticipate Hodder’s character to potentially slash his way through the city streets, intertwining with Dexter’s dark journey.
With season 2 already underway, anticipation builds as the show expands its thrilling universe of killers and intrigue. The combination of Michael C. Hall’s return and the new cast, including horror legend Kane Hodder, promises a gripping chapter in the ever-evolving saga of Dexter: Resurrection.
