AceShowbiz - A Waiter in Paris is set to star Leo Woodall and Clémence Poésy in what marks the feature directorial debut of Peter Hoar, known for his work on The Last of Us and It's a Sin. The film’s worldwide sales rights have been acquired by Cornerstone, which plans to launch sales at Cannes and will co-represent the project in the United States alongside WME Independent.

The production is backed by several key financiers, including BBC Film, Curzon, Cineart, and Madman. Distribution rights have already been pre-sold to Curzon for the UK, Cineart for the Benelux region, and Madman for Australia. Filming will take place on location in Paris.

A Waiter in Paris is adapted by Ben Hopkins, known for Fuze, from the memoir of the same name by Edward Chisholm. The story follows L’Anglais, a disillusioned, over-educated man approaching his 30th birthday who moves to Paris with the aim of establishing himself among the city’s elite group of waiters. The film explores the intoxicating nightlife of the Bastille district, the allure of love and lust, and the camaraderie of belonging to an exclusive social circle.

However, beneath the glamorous surface of fine dining lies a harsher reality marked by exploitation and insecurity. As tensions rise within the staff, L’Anglais’ dream life begins to unravel, revealing cracks in the sparkling facade.

The film is produced by former film critic Jason Solomons of Movie Love Productions and Phin Glynn, whose credits include Argentina, 1985. Developed with the support of BBC Film, Curzon, Cineart, and Madman, A Waiter in Paris is poised to offer a fresh perspective on the complexities lurking behind the world of Parisian hospitality.
