AceShowbiz - Maigret has been officially renewed for a second season by PBS Masterpiece, with production already underway in Budapest. Fans can look forward to the return of Benjamin Wainwright in the lead role, reprising his portrayal of the iconic detective.
Alongside Wainwright, Stefanie Martini will return as Madame Louise Maigret, while Kerrie Hayes, Shaniqua Okwok, and Reda Elazouar continue their roles as 'Les Maigrets,' the dedicated team supporting the detective’s investigations. The returning cast also includes Nathalie Armin as Prosecutor Mathilde Kernavel, James Northcote as Joseph Moers, and Rob Kazinsky as Inspector Justin Cavre.
This new season introduces Nathaniel Parker, known for his work on The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, who joins as Director of Police Xavier Guichard. His character acts as Maigret’s superior and mentor but grows wary of the detective’s rising reputation, aiming to keep him in check.
Additionally, the cast is expanded with Alex Bhat playing George Bonfils, a former Internal Affairs officer brought in to replace a departing colleague and a transferred team member. Bonfils quickly stirs tension within Maigret’s circle, challenging the dynamics of the detective unit.
With familiar faces returning and fresh characters entering the mix, Maigret Season 2 promises to deepen the intrigue and drama that captivated viewers in its debut. Production in Budapest signals that audiences can anticipate the continuation of this atmospheric detective series soon on PBS Masterpiece.
