AceShowbiz - Nick Cannon recently shared insights into his dedication to mental health and therapy during an episode of his Counsel Culture Show, where he spoke with Iyanla Vanzant.
Nick Cannon revealed that therapy is an integral part of his routine, attending sessions four times a week. When asked what motivated him to start therapy, he explained that it began as a requirement while pursuing his master’s degree in psychology.
“Part of the work was to make sure you actually spend time in therapy, but it’s been some years now, and I yearn for it,” Cannon stated. He initially approached therapy with a sense of confidence, believing he would simply learn from the process rather than benefit emotionally. “I first went in like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m just doing this to pick your brain and understand the process. I’m good,’” he admitted.
However, Cannon soon came to view therapy as essential “waste management” for his mind. He described it as a safe space to release bottled-up emotions and process feelings without pressure to fix everything immediately. “To verbalize, to have the opportunity to ponder and sit and sometimes cry, sometimes just breathe,” he said, calling it his “spiritual bandwidth.”
The father of 12 emphasized that his weekly therapy sessions allow him to maintain emotional balance, explaining, “I can only take so much before I have to get it all out.”
Nick Cannon has spoken publicly about therapy before. In 2021, he told Entertainment Tonight that his therapist advised him to be celibate, highlighting his ongoing commitment to mental health and personal growth.
