AceShowbiz - The Season is an upcoming Hong Kong-based drama series set to launch in the U.S. on Hulu in June 2026. Co-produced by PCCW Media and SK Global, the studio known for Crazy Rich Asians, the show promises a sharp and glamorous look at the lives of Hong Kong’s elite during the summer boating season.
Unveiled at Hong Kong's Filmart content market, the series will stream on Hulu and Hulu’s Disney+ hub in the United States. Meanwhile, viewers in Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa will be able to watch The Season on the regional streamer Viu. In Hong Kong, Now TV will handle the local broadcast. The international sales are managed by Fremantle with support from De Maio Entertainment, both presenting the series at Filmart for potential buyers worldwide.
The narrative of The Season draws comparisons to the hit show White Lotus due to its exploration of affluent characters’ complex and often dark interactions. Set against the dazzling and contrasting backdrop of Hong Kong, the story follows a privileged circle of friends who gather for a summer marked by luxury and sun-drenched yacht parties. However, beneath the glamorous veneer lies a tangled web of deception, power struggles, and life-altering consequences.
The series is described as a champagne-fueled revenge drama unfolding during Hong Kong’s high-society summer, where social connections dictate power, and appearances can be deceiving. Central to the plot is the Hext family, an established old-money dynasty in Hong Kong. They dominate elite social scenes through yacht gatherings, horse racing events, and charity galas, though secrets and scandals lurk beneath their polished exterior.
The drama intensifies when Cola, a mysterious newcomer with a hidden agenda, arrives and disrupts the delicate social ecosystem. Her presence triggers rivalries and shifts alliances, steering the story toward darker and more dangerous territory.
Jessie Mei Li, known for Shadow and Bone, stars as Cola. She is joined by Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and three-time Golden Horse Award winner Karena Lam, who portray the Hext family’s patriarch Christopher and matriarch Fiona, respectively. The ensemble cast also features Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), Celina Jade (Wolf Warrior 2), Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun), Yvonne Chapman (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Japanese artist K?ki, and Lee Jae-yoon (Physical 100 Season 2).
The series is created and executive produced by Yalun Tu, known for NCIS: Hawai’i. Marialy Rivas, director of The Jetty and a Perry Mason executive producer, also directs and executive produces the show. PCCW Media executives Janice Lee and Agatha Lo serve as executive producers, alongside SK Global’s Chloe Dan, Matt Aragachi, and Dylan Tarason.
Janice Lee, CEO of PCCW Media Group and Viu, emphasized the show’s compelling mix of setting and storytelling in a statement: “Set against the pulsating energy of Hong Kong and its spectacular cityscape, we believe The Season, at its core, is a story of redemption with characters who will resonate with audiences globally.” She expressed excitement about the partnership with SK Global and the opportunity to present the series to a worldwide audience. Returning to Filmart after announcing the project a year ago, Lee highlighted the complete series as a showcase of the outstanding creative team and cast involved.
With its blend of opulence, intrigue, and character-driven drama, The Season aims to captivate audiences who enjoy sophisticated storytelling set within exclusive social circles. Its upcoming Hulu release in June 2026 marks a significant entry for Asian dramas on American streaming platforms, offering a fresh perspective on high-society narratives.
