AceShowbiz - Fans have spoken, crowning Melanie Martinez’s latest album HADES as the most favored new music release this week, according to a fan poll published Friday, March 27, on Billboard.
The alt-pop artist’s fourth full-length studio album dominated the poll, securing an impressive 67% of the votes by the time it closed on Sunday. This strong showing places HADES well ahead of other notable releases during the same period.
The week saw new music from a variety of artists including Conan Gray, RAYE, Charlie Puth, and Miley Cyrus. Despite stiff competition, HADES led comfortably, with Conan Gray’s “The Best” coming in second with 20% of the vote, followed by RAYE’s This Music May Contain Hope at 7%. Charlie Puth and Miley Cyrus placed fourth and fifth respectively in the poll results.
Prior to the album’s release on March 27, Melanie Martinez shared singles such as “Possession” and “Disney Princess” to preview the record. To complement the launch, she hosted a unique “Listening Chamber” event in London. This immersive experience was directed by NIYADRE and produced by Laurence Warder and Daragh McCann of Bad Bones Films. The full event is available to watch in the video accompanying the album’s promotion.
Reflecting on the themes of HADES, Martinez described it as a “cracked mirror,” initially conceived as a futuristic dystopia but ultimately a reflection of the current world. She said, “Beneath the rage, it’s a refusal to go numb - a call to feel, to see clearly, and to ask if we can still create something beautiful from the chaos we’ve been given.”
The 18-track album follows Melanie Martinez’s 2023 release Portals, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking a continued successful run for the artist.
The fan poll results highlight HADES as the standout new album this week, confirming Melanie Martinez’s strong connection with her audience and the impact of her latest artistic vision.
