AceShowbiz - Billboard’s latest Dance Moves report for the charts dated April 4 highlights exciting new achievements by several prominent artists, including BONNIE X CLYDE, deadmau5, ILLENIUM, David Guetta, Dustin Lynch, and Dean Turnley.
BONNIE X CLYDE, the electronic duo composed of Daniel Litman and Paige Lopynski, have reached a significant milestone with their track What Love Can Do claiming the No. 1 spot on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart. This marks the pair’s first time topping any Billboard chart, a notable achievement after multiple entries since their debut in May 2019 with The Good Life, which peaked at No. 22.
What Love Can Do is the duo’s seventh entry on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, following three previous top 10 hits: Love Is Killing Me (No. 2 in 2020), Need Ya with FOMO (No. 2 in 2023), and Memory with SUM SUN (No. 5 in 2023). Beyond their personal success, this track also represents the first No. 1 for Breakaway Projects, the company behind the Breakaway Music Festival. The label and management division, launched in February 2025, focuses on emerging artists and partners with The Orchard for distribution.
deadmau5 returns to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart with his collaboration alongside British singer-songwriter Steve Appleton. Their track Science debuted at No. 38. Released on February 20 via EpicWin/mau5trap/Create, this song marks deadmau5’s 16th entry on the chart and his first since 2023’s I Remember (John Summit Remix) with Kaskade. For Steve Appleton, this is his second Billboard chart appearance, following his feature on Tiësto’s Blue which peaked at No. 35 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in 2020.
The track Science is anticipated to be part of deadmau5’s upcoming album scheduled for later this year. This album will be his first solo studio LP since 2016’s W:/2016Album/, which previously topped the Top Dance Albums chart.
The collaboration Die Living brings together two dance music heavyweights, ILLENIUM and David Guetta, along with country artist Dustin Lynch. The song debuted impressively at No. 9 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Released on March 20 through Republic Records, it garnered 1 million official streams in the United States during its first week (March 20-26), according to Luminate data.
ILLENIUM now has his 70th chart entry, tying him for fifth place in the most entries on this chart, along with his 11th top 10 hit. Meanwhile, David Guetta extended his record with his 98th visit to the chart and his 28th top 10, tying with Kygo for the most top 10s. For Dustin Lynch, this marks his first appearance on a dance chart, adding to a career with 17 entries on the Country Airplay chart, including nine No. 1 hits.
Melbourne-based DJ and producer Dean Turnley made his Billboard chart debut this week as well. His track Actin’ Tough entered the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart at No. 21. Released on March 20 via ROSSI.HOME/GRXWN/Chaos/Astralwerks/Interscope Capitol, the viral hit accumulated 689,000 U.S. streams in its opening week.
This week’s Dance Moves highlights not only the continued dominance of established artists like deadmau5, ILLENIUM, and David Guetta but also the rise of new and emerging talents such as BONNIE X CLYDE and Dean Turnley. The diversity of these artists—from electronic duos to country crossovers—reflects the evolving and dynamic nature of the dance music scene.
