The revelation that the two have started dating came after Amanda’s separation from her husband Kyle Cooke and West’s breakup with his close friend Ciara Miller earlier in 2023. This news has sparked intense speculation and backlash online, prompting West to speak out.

On the April 20 episode of his Show Me Something podcast, West was clear: “That’s one thing I would like to be very clear about: there was no overlap.” He emphasized that despite numerous theories circulating on the internet, both he and Amanda were single when their relationship began. “Everyone was single,” he stated firmly.

The 31-year-old wanted to set the record straight especially after Amanda faced harsh criticism, including a cruel message labeling her a “homewrecking whore.” West expressed regret that Amanda has absorbed much of the negative attention and wished that any criticism would be directed at him instead.

Although Amanda and Kyle announced their separation in January 2026, West explained that he and Amanda only realized their feelings were serious in February. “A lot has happened in a very, very short amount of time,” he noted, highlighting the rapid progression of events.

Regarding his own state of mind, West admitted he is taking things day by day and deliberately minimizing his phone use to cope with the situation. When asked by his podcast cohost Sophie Cunningham if he had contacted other Summer House castmates, he said some had not responded, which he understood. “That’s the hardest part I think with this whole situation is my actions have hurt people that I care about,” he reflected.

West also anticipates facing his castmates at the upcoming Summer House reunion, where he plans to apologize in person and address the rumors and internet drama directly.

Meanwhile, Ciara Miller, who had stayed mostly silent following West and Amanda’s public statement on March 31 confirming their romance, recently opened up about her feelings. In an interview with Glamour published April 17, Ciara described the experience as a “major mindf--k,” expressing the difficulty of dealing with emotional pain so publicly while watching the latest season of Summer House unfold on television.

The irony, Ciara pointed out, is that Season 10, filmed last summer and currently airing on Bravo, shows her and West seemingly reconciling after their breakup. This has added another layer of complexity to an already painful situation.

Ciara said her feelings of betrayal are directed more towards Amanda than West. The two women had been friends since Ciara joined Summer House in 2021, and Ciara felt deeply let down by Amanda’s actions. “At the end of the day, a guy’s a guy,” she said. “But I just never would think that it would come from someone like Amanda, who has been what has felt like in my circle and in my corner for so long. I think that’s the craziest part.”

Ciara elaborated on the support she had given Amanda in difficult times, including advocating for her during conflicts with her husband. “I have championed you. I have tried to be there in different ways for you and help you and get you to see your value in yourself. And so to be disregarded in such a disrespectful way is.... Honestly, it’s.... I’m at a loss for words sometimes,” she said.
