AceShowbiz - David Burke, known professionally as D4vd, faces charges of first-degree murder involving the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. According to Los Angeles County district attorney Nathan Hochman, prosecutors will file charges including special circumstances such as lying in wait, continuous sexual offenses with a minor under 14, and mutilation of human remains, as reported by the New York Times.
The investigation began after Hernandez’s body was discovered on September 8, 2025, inside the trunk of a discarded Tesla registered to D4vd in Los Angeles. Authorities identified the foul odor emanating from the vehicle as the reason for the discovery. Eleven days following the discovery, D4vd canceled the remaining dates of his 2025 tour.
Hernandez had been reported missing multiple times by her family throughout 2024. Her mother revealed to TMZ that Celeste had been dating a boy named “David.” On November 18, 2025, D4vd was officially named a suspect in the case. Court documents unsealed on February 26, 2026, confirmed that he is the focus of a grand jury investigation in Los Angeles.
District attorney Hochman has not specified whether the death penalty will be sought against D4vd. As of now, D4vd has not made any public statements regarding the charges or the ongoing investigation. The case continues to develop as prosecutors prepare to formally charge him with first-degree murder and related offenses.
