The sixth Insidious film. A new family, a terrifying new power to enter The Further. Can she stop what she brings back?

AceShowbiz - Insidious: Out of the Further has revealed its first trailer during Sony Pictures' CinemaCon presentation, promising a fresh and chilling chapter in the acclaimed horror franchise.

Adam Bergerman, Sony Pictures president of domestic distribution, assured the audience in Las Vegas that this sixth installment will be the most frightening in the series to date.

Following the 2023 release of Insidious: The Red Door, Out of the Further shifts focus to a new family and a new source of terror. The film stars Amelia Eve as Gemma, a young mother living in the house where she was raised, who discovers she has the ability to journey into The Further — a supernatural realm inhabited by lost souls, central to the Insidious universe.

Gemma’s newfound power extends beyond mere travel; she can bring entities from The Further into the real world. Once these malevolent forces become aware of her abilities, chaos ensues as they see the physical world as their new playground.

The film is written and directed by Jacob Chase, with a scheduled theatrical release on August 21. Returning cast members include Lin Shaye reprising her role as Elise Rainier, while Brandon Perea also appears in the film.

The trailer opens with a disturbing scene involving a dental exam, setting the tone for the relentless scares to follow. In the footage, Eve’s character confesses, "We were really happy until I started having these dreams. I'm scaring my daughter. I need someone to tell me how to stop this."

The Insidious franchise remains a major asset for Sony, having grossed over $740 million worldwide at the box office.

CinemaCon, where the trailer debuted, is an annual event gathering cinema owners and Hollywood studios. Hosted by Cinema United (formerly the National Association of Theatre Owners), this year’s event runs from April 13 to 16 in Las Vegas.
