Lil Rel Howery explained that he had turned on the special to distract himself while processing the recent loss of his father, who passed away in February. Instead of finding comfort, he realized Katt Williams was preparing a joke that involved him.

Describing the moment, Howery referenced the iconic roast scene from The Nutty Professor, where Dave Chappelle’s character targets Sherman Klump, asking, “I’m next?” Similarly, Howery felt that he was about to be singled out as Williams shifted his focus during the special.

Katt Williams initially discussed various topics, including celebrities and the weight-loss drug Ozempic, before suddenly bringing up Lil Rel Howery. Williams jokingly mimicked Howery, saying, “This n-a said he’s not on Ozempic,” catching Howery off guard.

The surprising moment didn’t end there. According to Howery, Williams used both old and recent photos of him as part of the roast, humorously “bullying” him with his own pictures. This playful jab added a personal touch to the comedy bit.

The two comedians have a history of exchanging remarks. In a past interview, Lil Rel Howery referred to Katt Williams as a “cartoon character.” He also admitted on the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast that their rivalry almost escalated to a physical confrontation at a Netflix event.
