AceShowbiz - Artists Equity, the independent studio led by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Gerry Cardinale, has unveiled a new Writers' Room program aimed at nurturing original screenplay development.
Following a successful pilot, the program invites writers to pitch diverse film concepts, with selected ideas forming the basis of dedicated writers' rooms. Throughout the process, Affleck, Damon, and acclaimed screenwriter Eric Roth, known for the Dune franchise, provide ongoing feedback to help refine scripts.
Scripts that advance through the program are packaged by Artists Equity with talent and financing, aligning with the company’s talent-first business approach. The Writers' Room will convene twice annually, with the next round of applications expected in late summer at the earliest.
The current cohort includes writers such as Jason Stone (The Altruists, The Hardy Boys), Gabe Sherman (The Apprentice, The Loudest Voice), E.T. Feigenbaum (Blink Twice, High Fidelity), Flint Wainess (Linda and Monica, Super in Love), Jono Matt (upcoming Foster the Snowman), Sam Mazany (Tires), Agatha Helena Nowicki (Kingdom Come, Gorilla and the Bird), and Steven Robillard (Summer Qamp, upcoming The Up & Up).
Writers participating in the program receive compensation at WGA scale, further supporting their creative contributions within Artists Equity's innovative development model.
