AceShowbiz - The upcoming comedy The Comeback King will place Glen Powell in the spotlight as a country western star experiencing a career decline. Universal Pictures officially revealed the film’s title on Monday, confirming its release date as February 5, 2027.
Judd Apatow directs the project and co-wrote the screenplay alongside Powell. The cast also includes Cristin Milioti, Madelyn Cline, Stavros Halkias, and Li Jin Hao, rounding out the ensemble.
Powell shared the title reveal on his Instagram, captioning the post with "Turn it up. Feb 2027." This marks another collaboration between Apatow and Universal Pictures, with the director producing through Apatow Productions as part of his longstanding overall deal with the studio.
Additionally, Powell and Dan Cohen produce via Barnstorm, connected to their first-look agreement with Universal signed last year. Former Universal production president Kevin Misher is also producing for Misher Films, while Barry Mendel and Josh Church serve as executive producers.
Powell’s partnership with Universal began with the 2024 disaster film Twisters, which earned over $267 million at the domestic box office. Recently, he voiced Fox McCloud in the animated Universal hit The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, alongside Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
His other recent works include the films How to Make a Killing and The Running Man. He is also set to return as the lead in the upcoming second season of Hulu’s series Chad Powers.
Judd Apatow is known for directing several Universal projects including The King of Staten Island, Knocked Up, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. He also directed Netflix’s 2022 movie The Bubble.
