AceShowbiz - Cardi B is intensifying her legal efforts to recover nearly $4 million owed by Tasha K. Recently, she filed a motion requesting a judge to compel the blogger to disclose her financial records.
On February 27, Cardi B's legal team submitted a motion in Tasha K's Florida bankruptcy case. They are seeking permission to inspect Tasha’s bank statements and personal financial information in person. Additionally, the motion demands that Tasha's companies, Yelen Entertainment LLC and Stash Money Works LLC, reveal the income generated from her YouTube channel and social media platforms.
This development comes about a year after United States Bankruptcy Court Judge Scott M. Grossman approved Tasha K’s long-term repayment plan. The plan addresses over $3.8 million owed to Cardi B following a defamation lawsuit, which the rapper won. Under the court's terms, Tasha has five years to pay $1.2 million, with the remaining balance due afterward. Tasha was also ordered to refrain from making disparaging public comments about Cardi B.
Cardi B originally sued Tasha K in 2019 for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress after Tasha accused the rapper of prostitution and drug use. The Bronx-native rapper prevailed in January 2022 and was awarded over $3.8 million in damages.
In 2023, Tasha K filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, but that has not stopped Cardi B from pursuing the money she is owed. In January 2024, Cardi B alleged that Tasha was concealing assets in offshore accounts.
Tasha K’s attorney responded to these claims with a statement to XXL, saying, "Ms. Kebe is currently in compliance with her confirmed Chapter 11 plan and intends to continue complying with all of its terms. Nothing is pending before the Court that requires additional action from Ms. Kebe beyond fulfilling her obligations under the confirmed plan, which she is doing."
XXL has reached out to Cardi B's team for comment regarding the ongoing legal battle.
This case adds to a series of high-profile legal wins for rappers who have successfully defended their reputations and finances in court.
