AceShowbiz - The latest 60-second TV spot for The Mandalorian and Grogu offers fans a fresh glimpse into the upcoming Star Wars feature, combining familiar trailer scenes with a handful of new moments. With the release just over two months away, Disney continues to build anticipation for the first Star Wars movie following the sequel trilogy's conclusion.
This extended promo primarily reuses footage from the recently unveiled full trailer, but it introduces some new sequences. One charming new shot captures Grogu sneezing adorably after being asked by Mando if he’s feeling well. Another highlights the duo flying toward their ship.
The storyline will place Din Djarin and Grogu in dire danger as they confront the Hutt Twins—villains first introduced in The Book of Boba Fett. The notorious crime lords will attempt to have them executed by feeding them to a massive Dragonsnake. This sequence nods to a classic Star Wars moment where Jabba the Hutt traps Luke Skywalker in the Rancor pit in Return of the Jedi, invoking a familiar sense of peril.
In a recent interview, former Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy addressed whether Grogu would speak in the film, clarifying that the beloved character will continue to communicate through expressive coos and gurgles rather than actual words. Kennedy described Grogu as "another perfect example of a character that has to emote and you have to feel connected to, and he never speaks a word." She added that audiences will grow even more attached to the little green character on the big screen despite his silence.
However, Kennedy’s revelation sparked some backlash on social media, where some fans considered the confirmation that Grogu won’t speak a spoiler.
The new TV spot can be viewed alongside the previously released teaser trailers, offering a more comprehensive look at the film’s tone and characters. The project is directed and produced by Jon Favreau, with Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni also serving as producers. Favreau expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."
Dave Filoni recently shared insights into the changing Star Wars landscape, explaining that the new film exists in a completely different era from the sequel trilogy. He said, "Episode VII was a completely different entity. I had dreams of Episode VII since I came out of Return Of The Jedi."
The cast includes Pedro Pascal reprising his role as Din Djarin, with Sigourney Weaver joining the ensemble as Ward, a colonel and leader of the New Republic's Adelphi Rangers who previously served as a Rebel Alliance pilot. The Clone Wars bounty hunter Embo is believed to be the film’s primary antagonist.
The Mandalorian & Grogu will premiere in theaters on May 22, 2026, promising an expansion of the Star Wars universe.
