- March 10, 2026
AceShowbiz - Apple TV has released the first official photos for the upcoming series Star City, a spinoff expanding the world of the acclaimed show For All Mankind. Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore, the new eight-episode thriller will premiere with two episodes on Apple TV on May 29, running through July 10.
Star City is described as a propulsive paranoid thriller that revisits a pivotal moment in the alternate history of the space race—when the Soviet Union first landed a man on the moon. Unlike its predecessor, this series explores the narrative from behind the Iron Curtain, focusing on the lives of Soviet cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers who risk everything to advance human space exploration.
The cast features Rhys Ifans (known for House of the Dragon), Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland), Agnes O'Casey (Black Doves), Alice Englert (Bad Behaviour), Solly McLeod (House of the Dragon), Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (I, Jack Wright), Josef Davies (Andor), and Priya Kansara (Bridgerton).
Variety initially reported the spinoff announcement in early 2024 when For All Mankind was renewed for its fifth season, set to debut on March 27. The original alternate history series launched in 2019 and stars Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt, among others.
Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, as well as Andrew Chambliss and Steve Oster. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for Apple TV.
Fans eager to explore the Soviet perspective on space exploration can look forward to Star City’s release later this spring, promising a fresh and intense addition to the For All Mankind universe. The newly released images provide a glimpse into the show's tense atmosphere and complex characters, highlighting the high stakes behind this alternate history thriller.
