AceShowbiz - A British television personality and influencer has been arrested in Majorca on suspicion of attempted murder after her husband alleged she poisoned him.

Amanda Jeffrey, a 45-year-old with a significant social media following, was detained by police on the Spanish island. The arrest followed a report from her husband, who told authorities he fell violently ill after consuming a drink she gave him.

According to police, the incident occurred on January 10. The husband stated he began to feel unwell after drinking a glass of wine Amanda Jeffrey had prepared at their home. He claimed she told him the drinks were a gift from a hotel. Reportedly, Jeffrey then changed his glass, stating the wine was too strong for her, and gave him a mixed drink instead. He consumed it despite noticing a strange taste.

The man was able to contact emergency services before losing consciousness for approximately 15 hours. He was hospitalized in La Palma for four days. Medical tests later confirmed he had been poisoned with a high dose of benzodiazepines, a type of tranquilizer.

After being discharged, the husband went to a National Police station to formally accuse his wife of poisoning him. An investigation was launched by the Family and Women's Unit, leading to Jeffrey's arrest.

In a statement to police, the victim claimed he had taken out two life insurance policies with Jeffrey listed as the beneficiary. He also alleged she had insisted on settling matters of his inheritance. The husband's name has not been publicly released by outlets covering the case.

Amanda Jeffrey, who regularly appears on Spanish talk shows and is known for promoting the English language, appeared in court following her arrest. A magistrate ordered her release but imposed a restraining order barring her from contacting the victim.

The victim's lawyer reportedly requested she not be held in police custody as the couple share a child. The case remains under investigation by authorities.
