AceShowbiz - Ted Lasso is set to make a triumphant return this summer, as the beloved Apple TV+ comedy embarks on a new journey—coaching a women's soccer team. Following the conclusion of its third season in 2023, the series has officially confirmed the return of key cast members, including Jeremy Swift, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein.
This upcoming season will feature familiar faces such as Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift, alongside a host of new talent including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. Currently, Ted Lasso is in the production phase, promising fans more heartwarming moments.
The official logline for season four reads: “In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.” This new storyline is sure to bring fresh dynamics and engaging narratives to the forefront.
Season three concluded with Ted Lasso leaving AFC Richmond to prioritize his relationships with his son and ex-wife, played by Andrea Anders. Production for the fourth season kicked off in Kansas City, Missouri, which is both the hometown of Jason Sudeikis and the fictional coach he portrays.
Joining the creative team for this season is Jack Burditt, known for his work on Modern Family and 30 Rock, who comes on board as an executive producer under a new deal with Apple TV. Alongside Sudeikis, the executive production team includes Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Goldstein will also contribute as a writer and executive producer.
Furthermore, Bill Lawrence, who has a rich history with shows like Scrubs, continues to executive produce through his company, Doozer Productions. The series was co-developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt, evolving from the original NBC Sports shorts that captured audiences’ hearts.
After a prolonged period of speculation concerning the show’s future following its third season finale in May 2023, Apple officially greenlit a fourth season in March. While Sudeikis was the only cast member confirmed initially, producer Warner Bros. Television had already secured options for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, paving the way for a highly anticipated return.
