AceShowbiz - While the beloved series 1923 concluded its two-season journey on April 6, 2025, fans continue to celebrate its memorable characters. Among them is Spencer Dutton, the younger son of James and Margaret Dutton, vividly brought to life by actor Brandon Sklenar. Following his impactful role in the Taylor Sheridan saga, Sklenar quickly garnered attention for his performance in one of this year's most captivating thrillers, starring opposite Meghann Fahy. This critically acclaimed production, Drop, is now set to find a new streaming home this month, following its earlier debut on Peacock.
Originally premiering at SXSW on March 9, 2025, and hitting theaters on April 11, 2025, Drop first launched on Peacock in July 2025. Now, the film is scheduled to arrive on Prime Video on November 14, 2025. Produced by the renowned Blumhouse, Drop had a remarkably strong theatrical run, more than doubling its production budget of $11 million. The film grossed an impressive $16.6 million in North America and an additional $11.9 million internationally, accumulating a worldwide total of nearly $29 million as of May 20, 2025.
The thriller centers on Meghann Fahy, who portrays a widowed mother whose seemingly innocent first date takes a terrifying turn when she begins receiving anonymous, threatening text messages. The film also features performances from Violett Beane and Jeffery Self. Behind the camera, Christopher Landon directed, working from a screenplay penned by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, who crafted a narrative filled with suspense and modern technological twists.
Critics have widely praised Drop, earning it a Certified Fresh 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus highlights the film's ability to "cleverly [utilize] modern technology for its twists and turns" and its success in delivering on "its pulpy premise while providing a welcome showcase for leading lady Meghann Fahy." This critical acclaim, combined with its box office success, firmly establishes Drop as a significant entry in the thriller genre for 2025.
Beyond his role in 1923 and the success of Drop, Brandon Sklenar has several other exciting projects on the horizon. This year, audiences can anticipate his appearance in The Housemaid, a psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig. This film, an adaptation of Freida McFadden's 2022 novel, also stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins, with a release slated for December 19, 2025, by Lionsgate.
Looking further ahead, Sklenar is also attached to another collaboration with Taylor Sheridan in the action thriller F.A.S.T., directed by Ben Richardson. This highly anticipated film, written by Sheridan himself, will not arrive until April 23, 2027, and boasts an ensemble cast including Juliana Canfield, LaKeith Stanfield, Jason Clarke, Sam Claflin, and Trevante Rhodes. In the meantime, fans can catch Drop when it streams on Prime Video later this month.
