After years of adhering to stringent dietary regimes, Gwyneth Paltrow is now embracing a more balanced approach to eating, re-discovering the joys of bread, cheese, and pasta.

AceShowbiz - In a recent episode of "The Goop Podcast," Gwyneth Paltrow discussed her notable shift away from the strict Paleo diet she had been following for years. Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk initially adopted the Paleo lifestyle to address "longer-term inflammation and health stuff," given the diet's emphasis on whole, unprocessed foods.

Paltrow recounted her journey through various diets, revealing that her dedication to eating healthily began when her father was diagnosed with throat cancer. "I went into hardcore macrobiotics for a certain time," she shared, "I got obsessed with eating very, very healthily, trying to heal my dad by proxy, and he just didn't really want anything to do with it."

The Paleo diet, modeled after the eating patterns of our Paleolithic ancestors, focuses on consuming fruits, vegetables, nuts, lean meats, and fish, while eliminating dairy, sugar, grains, legumes, and processed foods.

However, despite the health benefits, Paltrow admitted to becoming weary of the restrictive diet. "I'm a little sick of it if I'm honest," she confessed on her podcast. "I'm getting back into eating some sourdough bread and some cheese. There, I said it. A little pasta. After being strict with it for so long."

Nutrition experts have shown support for Paltrow's decision to reintroduce a wider variety of foods. Priya Tew, a specialist dietitian, remarked, "It sounds like Gwyneth is moving towards a more balanced and nutritious diet. Considering her realm of influence, it is good to hear that she is finding this of benefit."

Despite her shift, she maintained that the Paleo diet is a "good template, eating foods that are as whole and fresh as possible." She elaborated, "I think I was just so amazed that we had this power in our hands - that if we treated ourselves well and ate whole foods, we could just feel so much better."

This change comes on the heels of criticism she faced in 2023 for promoting what many deemed an overly restrictive diet, including bone broth lunches and vegetable-heavy dinners.

Responding to the backlash, Paltrow clarified, "I eat full meals, and I also have days where I eat whatever I want. My baseline has been to try to eat healthy and foods that really calm the system down."

Ultimately, Paltrow's journey serves as a reminder of the importance of balance and flexibility in one's diet. While strict eating habits can lead to positive health outcomes, it's equally vital to enjoy life's simple pleasures - without the burden of dietary guilt.
