In a comedic twist, John Mulaney draws a parallel between the challenging yet entertaining realm of parenting a toddler and working in the rumored toxic environment of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.'

AceShowbiz - Comedian and actor John Mulaney has found an amusing way to describe the chaos and unpredictability of parenting a toddler. On his Netflix show, "Everybody's Live With John Mulaney", he compared the experience to the alleged toxic work environment crew members faced on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".

"You know what having a 3-year-old is like?" the 42-year-old comedian, who is a father to a 3-year-old son with his wife actress Olivia Munn, asked his viewers. "Having a 3-year-old is what I imagine working on Ellen DeGeneres' show was like. Because people come over and they're like, 'How is it?' And you're, like, 'Oh, it's fine. You know, we have fun. There's games.' "

He humorously added, "We have dancing, you know. So if he starts dancing, you dance. But if he stops dancing, you f**king stop dancing right away."

Mulaney's joke is a lighthearted nod to the serious allegations that hit DeGeneres' show nearly five years ago. The "Ellen" workplace was criticized for being an alleged breeding ground for racism and toxic environment.

In March 2021, amid the controversies, Ellen DeGeneres issued an apology stating, "I learned that things happen here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say I'm so sorry to the people who were affected."

Despite her apology, the accusations persisted, and she decided to end her talk show in May 2022 after a 19-season run.

Meanwhile, during his show, Mulaney also shared an anecdote about his son Malcolm's school performance where the toddler experienced stage fright. Unsure about letting the kid sit on dad's lap, the teacher said, "Your class worked very hard. Everyone's excited to hear the song."

Reflecting on the situation, Mulaney quipped, "Oh, excuse me, Ms. Inez, you have no idea how much you can disappoint an audience and still bounce back in this business."

The comedian welcomed Malcolm in November 2021 and a second child, Méi, via surrogate in September 2024. He tied the knot with Olivia Munn in July 2024.

"Everybody's Live With John Mulaney" continues to stream on Netflix, filling Wednesday nights with laughs and honest reflections on family life.
