AceShowbiz - Weston Cage, son of the renowned actor Nicolas Cage, has been granted a lifeline in the form of a two-year mental health diversion program, allowing him to avoid prison sentences following allegations of a violent attack on his mother, Christina Fulton. This decision comes almost a year after the alleged incident that left Fulton with severe injuries.

During a court hearing, Los Angeles County Judge Enrique Monguia stated, "Mr. Cage does suffer from an eligible mental health disorder. I'm satisfied it was a significant factor in the commission of the charged offenses."

This acknowledgment played a crucial role in the court's ruling. Weston's legal representative, Michael A. Goldstein, also highlighted that his client had been undergoing intensive inpatient and outpatient treatments, which have dramatically improved his mental state.

Weston's troubled night on April 28, 2024, was discussed in harrowing detail during the court proceedings. Fulton shared a graphic account of rushing to Weston's apartment, only to be met with a manic and furious son.

"Nothing prepared me for April 28th, 2024, the night my son almost took my life," Fulton recounted, describing how Weston allegedly physically attacked her and a close friend.

Despite the accusations and the graphic recollections of being shoved to the floor, suffocated, and strangled, Fulton has indicated support for the diversion program. She vigorously emphasized that Weston needs help, stating, "Please help my son."

In the light of this incident, Judge Monguia has ordered Weston to follow his treatment plan and avoid trouble to potentially have his case dismissed by April 2027. Additionally, Weston is prohibited from harassing his alleged victims and possessing any weapons for the next two years.

Weston, who has since remained sober, is channeling efforts towards a positive future, including preparing for marriage and moving to a new location. This move represents a new chapter for the 34-year-old musician and actor, after a history of tumultuous episodes fueled by mental health struggles.

Interestingly, Christina Fulton had earlier accused Nicolas Cage of negligence through a lawsuit, claiming that he enabled their son's reckless behavior by bailing him out multiple times and failing to provide essential psychiatric help. However, the case was recently dismissed, with Cage's lawyer calling the allegations "absurd and frivolous."
