AceShowbiz - Emerging from the sun-soaked Barbieland, Margot Robbie is ready to mesmerize the audience yet again - this time, traversing the misty Yorkshire Moors for her role in "Wuthering Heights". The 34-year-old actress was recently seen filming for Emerald Fennell's high-budget adaptation of Emily Bronte's classic, set to release in February 2026.
Robbie, who will portray the enigmatic Catherine Earnshaw, was spotted in an ethereal, off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a voluminous skirt, trailed by a long veil. The scene, filmed on foggy moors, marked a dramatic departure from her recent role as vibrant Barbie in the 2023 hit film.
The adaptation, with a production cost of £62 million, will see Jacob Elordi as the brooding protagonist Heathcliff. Elordi, known for his recent role as Elvis Presley in the 2023 film "Priscilla", is no stranger to working with Robbie. They recently co-starred in the short film, "See You at 5", directed by Luca Guadagnino for the Chanel No. 5 campaign.
Despite the palpable chemistry between the leads, the casting choices sparked controversy among fans. Catherine, characterized as no older than 19 in the novel, is portrayed by a 34-year-old Robbie, while 27-year-old Elordi takes on Heathcliff, who ages to about 40 in the story.
Additionally, criticisms arose over the perceived "whitewashing" of Heathcliff, traditionally depicted with dark skin and often assumed to have Roma or Gypsy heritage.
Emerald Fennell is known for her work on critically-acclaimed "Saltburn" and for portraying Camilla in "The Crown". Fennell's directorial efforts are bolstered by Robbie's production company, LuckyChap, which also produced "Saltburn" another acclaimed film "Promising Young Woman".
As Margot Robbie weaves through these diverse roles - from Malibu's sunny shores to Yorkshire's desolate moors, her latest transformation promises yet another riveting performance.
