AceShowbiz - Nadya Suleman, famously known as the "Octomom," opened up about her unconventional journey through motherhood in the new docuseries "Confessions of Octomom." In the latest episode, she shared the story of her daughter tracking down biological father behind her back.
The 49-year-old mom has a total of 14 children conceived via two donors, one known to her and the other anonymous.
Suleman's daughter, Amerah, secretly found her biological father on Facebook at the age of 12 and contacted him without her mother's knowledge. "I actually found him on Facebook when I was like 12," Amerah admitted. "I did reach out to him. My mom had no idea that I did that."
Nevertheless, Suleman found out because the man contacted the reality star. Amerah remembered being told she wasn't ready because of her age, "She was like, 'if you want to know him when you're 18, go for it. Reach out. He's more than happy to get to know you, just whenever you're ready.' "
Yet, years later after the initial contact, she felt no need to pursue a relationship further. "He's a stranger. I understood why he didn't want to be in our lives after the eight came and that's it," she explained.
The famous octuplets - Noah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jonah, Josiah, Makai, Maliyah, and Nariyah - are now 16 and shared their views on growing up with a single mother. Jonah reminisced, "When I was like six or seven, I would see people with dads and stuff, and I asked my mom if we have a dad, and then she said that we didn't. She had a donor, and so she had it herself."
Maliyah added, "He's just a frozen donor that we don't know at all." Their sibling Nariyah echoed similar sentiments, stating that they never felt the need for a father figure given the support from their mother and their faith.
The series also touches upon her decision to return to the spotlight, years after her reality show came to an end. She said she actually had several opportunities to star in reality TV shows over the years but declined for her children's sake.
Following intense media scrutiny and public backlash due to her controversial life choices over the years, Suleman came to appreciate privacy and fought to maintain a sense of normalcy for her children.
Now inviting the cameras into their private lives through the docuseries, she explained, "My family and I are taking our life back."
The docuseries promises to finally unveil the identity of the sperm donor for all 14 of Suleman's children, rumored to be David Solomon.
The Orange County native recently became a grandmother, with her son Joshua and daughter-in-law welcoming a baby girl on August 30.
