AceShowbiz - The high school-centric prequel to the beloved "Legally Blonde" series has made another major casting announcement by adding June Diane Raphael to its roster. Raphael joins the project as Eva, Elle's picture-perfect and pragmatic mom.
Raphael is set to join the previously announced Lexi Minetree who takes on the titular role of young Elle Woods. This new series simply titled "Elle" promises to explore Elle's formative years before her iconic journey to Harvard Law School.
Created by Laura Kittrell, known for her work on "High School" and "Insecure," the show is set to captivate both old fans and new audiences alike. Kittrell will share executive producing and co-showrunning duties with Caroline Dries.
The high-profile producing team includes Reese Witherspoon alongside Lauren Neustadter and Marc Platt. Jason Moore, celebrated for his work on "Pitch Perfect," is set to direct the first two episodes.
Raphael brings a wealth of experience to the role of Eva. She is widely recognized for her standout performance as Brianna Hanson in Netflix's "Grace and Frankie" and has a diverse array of credits in both television and film.
This includes memorable appearances in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Big Mouth," and "Abbott Elementary." Her involvement with the “Legally Blonde” prequel also marks a reunion with Witherspoon, as Raphael has a recurring role on Witherspoon's "The Morning Show."
Raphael's upcoming projects include Zach Cregger's horror thriller "Weapons." She is also involved in the pilot "DINKS" for Amazon MGM and Lionsgate, as well as a multi-cam comedy inspired by "Bewitched" titled "Something Wicked."
The original "Legally Blonde" film grossing over $140 million globally and spawning several sequels and a Broadway musical, further cementing Elle Woods as a pop-culture icon.
Fans have eagerly awaited any continuation of the series, and "Elle" promises a fresh perspective. While the original movies showed Elle's supportive yet skeptical parents, this series will provide a deeper look at her family dynamics, especially the influence of her mother, Eva.
With its star-studded cast and accomplished production team, "Elle" is poised to be a significant hit for Amazon Prime Video.
