AceShowbiz - Abby Lee Miller, best known for her sharp critiques on "Dance Moms", has recently targeted another high-profile name: Taylor Swift. During a recent interview on Page Six's "Virtual Reali-Tea" podcast, Miller remarked that Swift's dance moves are "difficult to watch."
Unsurprisingly, Swift's dedicated fans, often referred to as Swifties, were quick to defend the singer. Comments flooded social media, with one fan passionately asking, "Who does she think she is?" Another advised Miller to "go back to jail," referencing her past legal troubles, while a third pointed out, "Taylor doesn't care about that lol it's pointless to pick apart the dancing like this."
Miller did acknowledge Swift's choreographer, Mandy Moore, for her intelligent approach on Swift's Eras Tour. "I think that Mandy Moore, who is a genius, was so much more intelligent to have Taylor kind of stand and do her own thing," Miller said, noting how the strategy allowed the singer to shine.
However, before Moore's intervention, Miller said Swift's performances were "hard" to watch as the singer often struggled with choreography.
The veteran dance coach also suggested that Swift's focus on music over dance from a young age contributed to her less-polished dance skills. "When she was a little girl, she was hunched over that guitar, creating music and working on her voice," Miller commented.
Miller's critique has hit a nerve not only because of her blunt delivery but also because Swift has openly admitted that dancing isn't her strong suit. Swifties argue that the singer's strength lies in her songwriting and vocal ability, making these dance critiques feel unwarranted.
"The thing about Taylor is, she has said multiple times that learning choreography isn't her strong suit. I honestly don't think she cares about being a beat behind or feet pointed in," one fan noted.
Taylor Swift was not the only singer being bashed by Abby Lee Miller. The dance coach also criticized Tate McRae following their awkward encounter. "I don't know her that well, I just know her [enough] to say 'Hello,' " she claimed. "I just saw her at Craig's having dinner a couple weeks ago. … She had her nose in the air."
As the drama unfolds, it's also a reminder of Miller's own hardships. In 2018, she faced a near-paralyzing battle with Burkitt lymphoma, which left her wheelchair-bound. She also served time in federal prison in 2017 for fraud. Amid these personal struggles and a more recent declaration of being cancer-free, Miller continues to draw public ire for her outspoken views.
For now, it seems Abby Lee Miller's sharp tongue is just another challenge for Taylor Swift and her ever-loyal fanbase. Whether you agree with Miller's critique or not, one thing is certain: Taylor Swift won't be letting a few harsh words keep her off the stage.
