AceShowbiz - Conan O'Brien made waves as he hosted the 2025 Oscars for the first time. Known for his quick wit and self-deprecating humor, O'Brien did not disappoint, delivering a monologue that hilariously poked fun at Hollywood's elite while also tackling more serious subjects.

The evening kicked off with a pre-taped segment in which O'Brien emerged from the back of Demi Moore in a playful tribute to "The Substance," one of frontfrunners of the night. As he took the stage, he coyly remarked, "That was weird. Yeah, awkward. I'm missing some car keys," setting the tone for a fun and unconventional Oscars night.

O'Brien launched into his monologue with a jab at himself, "A Complete Unknown. A Real Pain. Nosferatu. These are just some of the names I was called on the red carpet," referring to Bob Dylan biopic, Kieran Culkin's movie, and Robert Eggers' Dracula movie, which were all nominated at the event.

He then addressed the elephant in the room: Karla Sofia Gascon, the first transgender woman to get a best actress nomination but was condemned for her offensive social media posts.

"Anora uses the F word 479 times," O'Brien started off by giving a shout-out to Mikey Madison's movie before delivering his punchline, "That's three more than the record set by Karla Sofia Gascon's publicist," prompting the crowd to burst into rancorous laugh. He added, "Carla, if you are going to tweet about the Oscars, remember my name is Jimmy Kimmel."

The comedian's humor did not spare anyone, not even Best Actor nominee Timothee Chalamet, who was wearing a bright yellow suit. "Timmy Chalamet is up for best actor tonight. Love that suit, you will not get hit on your bike tonight. Safe!" he quipped about the actor's bright outfit.

He also teased Adam Sandler, who was dressed in casual basketball shorts, sneakers, and a blue hoodie, quipping that Sandler looked like a "professional poker player's 2 A.M. attire.”

Amid the laughs, O'Brien took a moment to address the tragic LA wildfires that had affected many, including himself. "The people of Los Angeles have been through a devastating ordeal, and this needs to be addressed," he said somberly.

"Yes, we will honor many beautiful and talented A-list stars, but the Oscars shines a light on people you will never see - craftspeople, artisans, technicians, customers. Hardworking men and women behind the camera who have devoted their lives to making film."

Always one to keep the mood light, O'Brien broke out into a song called "I won't waste time," mocking the traditional Oscar host's long musical numbers. The performance included an inflatable sandworm from "Dune Part Two" and a Deadpool dancer.

Despite his nerves, as detailed in a pre-Oscars interview with the New York Times, O'Brien's debut as an Oscars host was a hit. He remarked, "I don't think of it as a thankless task - even if I just do it once, and no one's interested in me doing it again, it will have been a meaningful experience for me. My parents aren't here to see it, but I know it would have been a huge deal to them."

Conan's unique blend of humor and sincerity made for an Oscars night to remember, proving that this former late-night host could shine on Hollywood's biggest stage.
