AceShowbiz - Doechii, the acclaimed rapper behind hits like "Catfish" and "Denial is a River," slammed allegations that she lip-synced during her 2025 Grammy Awards performance. The rumors began circulating after a TikTok user commented, "Some parts of the live song you can see that she's not saying anything and the song is still playing with her pre-recorded voice."
In response, Doechii took to TikTok, visibly upset, and unequivocally denied the claims. "I can't possibly get on here and say this calmly or nicely: y'all are stupid as hell," she exclaimed, pointing out that the alleged discrepancies occurred because her DJ's voice was filling in while she was executing an intricate somersault.
She emphasized, "That entire performance was live! I was sick as a dog with bronchitis and the flu, performing my a** off in a straddle on top of human men." She further stated that her performance included natural sounds like her hair beads hitting the microphone, a clear indicator of its live nature. "I don't lip-sync. Don't ever play with me like that!" she raged.
Doechii left Grammys as a winner, clinching the Best Rap Album for "Alligator Bites Never Heal." This victory made her only the third woman to win this prestigious award, following Lauryn Hill and Cardi B.
In her emotional acceptance speech, she said, "I poured my heart and soul" into the album and encouraged Black women to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles they face.
The night of her Grammy win was further celebrated with the release of her single "Nosebleeds," in which she confidently raps, "Guess we'll never see the day that Doechii crown falls / guess you'll never live to see the day Doechii loses."
Fans have even more to look forward to as she teased an upcoming collaboration with BLACKPINK's Jennie, set to drop on February 21.
