AceShowbiz - Nickelodeon is working on a new multi-cam comedy series with the working title "Hollywood Arts." The show is based on the character of Trina Vega, the older sister of Tori Vega, the protagonist of the original "Victorious" series. Daniella Monet will reprise her role as Trina in the spinoff.
The series will revolve around Trina returning to her former high school, Hollywood Arts High School, as a teacher. It is currently in development and has yet to receive an official greenlight.
Monet will serve as an executive producer on the spinoff alongside Jake Farrow, a former writer and producer on "Victorious" and its first spinoff, "Sam & Cat." Samantha Martin will also serve as an executive producer.
It is unclear whether other original "Victorious" stars, including Victoria Justice or Ariana Grande, will reprise their roles in the spinoff, but Dan Schneider, the creator of "Victorious," will have no involvement in the project.
Schneider parted ways with Nickelodeon in 2018 and has been accused of creating a toxic work environment on his shows. The accusations were recently explored in the controversial docuseries "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of TV." Schneider has since sued the producers of the docuseries for defamation.
The original "Victorious" series ran from 2010 to 2013 and starred Victoria Justice as an aspiring singer attending Hollywood Arts High School. The series also featured Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, Avan Jogia, and Leon Thomas III.
Nickelodeon has previously developed a spinoff from "Victorious" titled "Sam & Cat," which starred Grande and Jennette McCurdy as the misadventures of their respective characters from "Victorious" and "iCarly."
Further details about the "Hollywood Arts" spinoff, including casting and production schedules, will be announced at a later date.
