AceShowbiz - From stage chemistry to offstage affection, Hugh Jackman's relationship with his "Music Man" co-star Sutton Foster has intrigued and fascinated many. The couple reportedly made no attempts to hide their affection backstage during their Broadway show and even went on double dates with their respective spouses.
Hugh, 56, and Sutton, 49, starred together in Meredith Wilson's musical on Broadway from December 2021 until January 2023. Soon after, rumors swirled about a possible romance, which intensified following Hugh's surprising split from his long-time wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.
An insider from the musical told DailyMail, their chemistry was palpable while they were on the show. "At intermission, Sutton and Hugh would stand and hug for a minute, two minutes in front of the entire cast coming up the stairs," they said. The pair also frequently spent time in Sutton's dressing room and shared long embraces, which some cast members found unusual.
"In a way it was uncomfortable," the insider continued. "They didn't even hide it! It was a long embrace... and it was weird." The source described Sutton as "needy" and their relationship as "Broadway's worst-kept secret."
Playing Harold Hill and Marian Paroo, Hugh and Sutton were required to passionately make out onstage. This led to double dates with their spouses - with Sutton, who filed for divorce in October 2024, bringing her husband Ted Griffin and Jackman taking his then-wife Deborra-Lee Furness.
While they haven't made any comment on their relationship, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have since gone public as a couple, openly holding hands and kissing on their dates.
