Despite previous comments about retirement, Jim Carrey leaves open the possibility of reprising his role as the green-faced superhero in a 'The Mask' sequel.

AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey has expressed interest in potentially reprising his iconic role in "The Mask" sequel. In an interview with Comicbook.com, the actor acknowledged that it would have to be the "right idea" and that money was not the primary motivator.
"I guess if somebody had the right idea... It's not really about the money," Carrey said. "I joke about the money... But I never know. You can't be definite about these things."
This revelation comes after Carrey previously hinted at retirement from acting in 2022. However, when pressed on the subject during the London premiere of 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3,' Carrey attributed it to "hyperbole."
The original 'The Mask' (1994) featured Carrey as Stanley Ipkiss, a bank clerk who transforms into a manic superhero when he wears a mysterious mask. The film also starred Cameron Diaz and Peter Riegert.
Carrey's consideration of a sequel follows his recent return to other iconic roles. He reprised his character as Dr. Robotnik in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" and expressed interest in a potential sequel to "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".
The actor explained his return to acting in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" by the opportunity to play a genius and a need for funding. "I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly," Carrey said.
It remains to be seen whether the right idea for a "The Mask" sequel will emerge, but Carrey's willingness to consider it has sparked excitement among fans of the original film.
