The album, which is yet to be titled, is already complete, and Sheeran has shot two music videos for it. The singer plans to film two more music videos in the coming year while continuing his world tour.
After releasing two albums, "(Subtract)" and "Autumn Variations," and touring extensively for the past two years, Sheeran is ready to return with a bigger sound. "It feels like I'm getting back into big pop for the first time in a long time," he said. "It's quite exciting."
Sheeran also spoke about his collaboration with "Love Actually" director Richard Curtis on the animated film "That Christmas." The singer wrote the song "Under the Tree" for the film, which he describes as the first "sad" Christmas song he's ever written. "This is quite a lot of people's realities at Christmas," he said.
Sheeran hinted at the possibility of his next album being titled "Play" in an Instagram post in November 2023. In the post, he stated that the song "Guiding Light" was one of his final releases "for a while" and added, "See you sometime next year when we press Play again on pop."
While the album's title remains unconfirmed, fans can look forward to new music and a potential return to the "big pop" sound that made Sheeran a global star.
