AceShowbiz - Earlier this month, 47-year-old actor James Van Der Beek revealed that he has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. On Thanksgiving, he took to Instagram to share his reflections on the recent developments in his life.

"It's been a tough year… and I'm thankful for all of it," Van Der Beek wrote alongside a photo with his wife, Kimberly, and their six children. "For the giant life re-direct cancer has placed in my path. For the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends come through on such a profound level."

He expressed his gratitude to his wife, saying, "I'm more grateful than ever to my super human wife who has shown up on levels I never knew possible. Who has shown me what unconditional love is and the magic that comes from that."

Van Der Beek also acknowledged the support he has received from fans and friends, writing, "I'm grateful to each and every one of you who has reached out and sent good vibes and prayers. It all lands and makes a difference."

Colorectal cancer is a form of cancer that affects the large intestine and digestion. Van Der Beek highlighted the importance of being aware of his body and what he feeds it.

He concluded his post by saying, "And of course, I'm beyond thankful for the little blond army of hearts who keep me present, active, and inspired just by being you. I love you guys beyond."

In December, Van Der Beek will appear on The Real Full Monty, a special raising awareness for prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer testing and research. He has also signed on to star in Sidelined: The QB and Me, an upcoming Tubi Original based on Wattpad's popular YA novel.
