AceShowbiz - "Grey's Anatomy" star Camilla Luddington shares her embarrassing Thanksgiving experience where she accidentally gave her guests food poisoning.
During an episode of her podcast with Jessica Capshaw, Camilla Luddington revealed that she once hosted a Thanksgiving dinner that went terribly wrong.
As a UK native who was unfamiliar with traditional Thanksgiving practices, Luddington purchased a precooked turkey from Whole Foods. However, her lack of cooking experience led to a disaster.
Despite putting the turkey in the oven for hours, it was still undercooked by 10 pm. Desperate, she removed it from the oven and served it to her guests, assuming no one would get sick.
However, to her dismay, her guests began experiencing food poisoning that night. "People were throwing up that night," she said. Luddington attributed the incident to the inaccurate cooking instructions on the turkey packaging.
She emphasized the importance of using an internal thermometer to ensure that poultry is cooked to a safe temperature. She also urged listeners to multiply the cooking time recommended on the package by three to avoid similar mishaps. "The turkey I got that year was an a**hole and took, I don't know, 12 hours," she quipped.
Despite the incident, Luddington's friends and family still enjoyed her company, and the actress learned a valuable lesson about the dangers of undercooked poultry.
