AceShowbiz - Khalid has come out of the closet. The singer/songwriter has addressed his sexuality for the first time after he was outed as gay by a former lover, who slammed him on social media following their apparent ugly breakup.

Hugo Almonte took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim that he was in a relationship with the "Young Dumb & Broke" hitmaker. While he hinted that he's no longer into the Texas native, he accused the musician of trying to set him up and make it as if he broke into Khalid's house because the singer was angry Hugo dumped him.

"I was dating this dumb a** singer he's ugly as f**k but he tried to set me up and lie and say I broke into his house because I broke up with him like why would I go to your house and do all that if I broke up with you dumb a**!" he tweeted.

Hugo also shared a photo of him with Khalid, whose real name is Khalid Donnel Robinson, to prove their relationship. He added in the caption, "B***h a** [ninja emoji] lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn't want him."

After the tweets became viral, Khalid confirmed that he is gay. "there yall go. Next topic please lol," he wrote on X on Friday, November 22, using the LGBTQ flag. When a fan wrote, "Wait hope Mr Khalid isn't GEHHH!" he responded, "I am! And that's okay."

In another tweet, the 26-year-old said, "I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let's get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain't nobodies business! But I am okay with me [a black heart emoji] love yall."

He also explained why he never came clean about his sexuality before, saying, "I wasn't hiding anything! It's just not any of your business." He also responded to a fan, "Thank you!!!! I was never hiding," before signing off, "Aight love yall thank yall I'm off this."

Khalid has since been defended by his fans and friends, who blasted his ex-lover for outing him. "loser Loser LOSER LOSER behaviour," pop-R&B producer MNEK hit back at Hugo, who is a fellow musician.

"Your music can barely allow you to afford a small fry at jack in the box and you're pressed about outing someone who has three diamond records. y'all are not the same, babes," wrote Amorphous on X. "If you're intentionally going out of your way to be shady or cause mess, do not be shocked if your failing music career is brought up."

While this is the first time Khalid has publicly addressed his sexuality, he has always been ally of the LGBTQ+ community. His song "Love Lies" was the official single for the "Love, Simon" soundtrack and he also spoke about the community while being honored as one of TIME's Most Influential Teens of 2017.
