AceShowbiz - Country music star Zach Bryan has successfully cleared his name in an ongoing legal case stemming from his arrest in Oklahoma last year. According to Michelle Lowry, spokesperson for the Craig County branch of Oklahoma District Attorney's Office, Bryan has fulfilled the requirements of an agreement made in the wake of his September 2023 arrest by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The 28-year-old Grammy-winning artist had agreed in May to avoid any legal entanglements for a six-month period, with the deadline falling on Thursday. TMZ reported that Bryan has "stayed out of trouble since then" and is now eligible for his case to be dropped.
The incident occurred on September 7, 2023 when Bryan's security guard was pulled over by an officer in Vinita, Oklahoma. Bryan, who was driving ahead, stopped his vehicle and got out to smoke a cigarette. When instructed to get back inside his car, Bryan mouthed off to the officer, resulting in his arrest and a brief jail stay.
"I get too lippy with him," Bryan admitted, saying he was "just mouthing off like an idiot" while the officer was "just doing their job." After spending a few hours in the Craig County jail, Bryan apologized to the officers, admitting his behavior was out of line. "I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize," Bryan said in a video posted on social media.
While his legal troubles may be behind him, Bryan's personal life has also been under the spotlight. His tumultuous relationship with Barstool Sports podcaster Brianna Chickenfry, whose real name is Brianna LaPaglia, has been much talked about since their split in October. LaPaglia has accused Bryan of being "emotionally abusive" during their romance, which began in July 2023 and lasted until October 22 this year.
"It was just this constant cycle of, 'Build you up, beat you down, apologize,' " LaPaglia shared on her podcast, BFFs. She declined a $12 million offer from Bryan's team to sign a non-disclosure agreement, saying, "I don't want, in two years, to buy a f***ing house and think, 'Oh, this is the money from the dude that literally f***ing destroyed me and broke me for a year' - f*** that."
In his statement, Bryan acknowledged his shortcomings, saying, "I've had an incredibly hard year personally and struggled through some pretty severe things. I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to go out different ways." He added, "I am not perfect and never will be. With everything I am and to anyone I let down, I am sorry."
Despite these challenges, Bryan has enjoyed professional success. His self-titled album topped the Billboard 200 charts in September 2023, and his duet with Kacey Musgraves, "I Remember Everything," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year.
As Zach Bryan steps into the next chapter of his career, fans hope to see him continue to make music and perhaps find a sense of balance amidst the highs and lows of his life's recent events.
