AceShowbiz - Chappell Roan, the Rising pop star, has found herself embroiled in a public dispute with Billboard magazine over the publication's reporting on her split from her management.
Billboard posted a photo of the "Pink Pony Club" singer to Instagram alongside an article about her management firing. The caption read, "Chappell Roan has split with her management team, sources confirm to Billboard." Roan expressed her displeasure with the post by commenting, "Yall suck for this."
The original Billboard report revealed that Roan had parted ways with State of the Art management and her manager, Nick Bobetsky, after six years. Bobetsky had been a strong supporter of Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz.
Rumors of a professional split began circulating last month after Roan faced backlash for her remarks about the U.S. Presidential election. She also canceled her appearance at the All Things Go festival, citing health reasons.
Roan has previously criticized the media and paparazzi for intrusive behavior. In an Instagram post, she stated, "When I'm on stage, when I'm performing, when I'm in drag, when I'm at a work event, when I'm doing press ... I am at work."
Some online commentators have criticized Roan's response to Billboard's reporting, claiming that news of artist management splits is standard entertainment reporting. They compared it to the widely publicized split between Dua Lipa and her management in 2022.
However, others have suggested that Roan may have been reacting to Billboard's mention of her former management's lack of congratulations for her Grammy nominations.
