AceShowbiz - Kourtney Kardashian may need to read the room better. "The Kardashians" star was under fire for the message on a birthday cake that enraged Internet users, who later called her "shameless."
On Tuesday, November 5, Kourtney celebrated her friend and colleague Simon Huck's birthday. Simon, who co-founded her wellness brand Lemme, took to his Instagram account to share a picture of a birthday cake that Kourtney sent for him.
The cake featured the words, "Lemme Eat Cake." Showing gratitude to the reality TV star, the PR guru wrote on Instagram Stories, "Love you @kourtneykardashian."
While it's a word play for their brand, some people appeared to think that the mom of four was referencing the famous Marie Antoinette quote, "Let them eat cake." The French queen allegedly said the words after learning that her starving subjects had no bread.
Given the fact that the post was shared on Election Day, some people could not help but think that Kourtney was being insensitive with the message. "Wow. Just a big f**k you to the rest of us. Can't wait to see them fall," one Reddit user commented.
"Oh the reference is definitely intentional. Beyond tasteless and gross. Fits them all perfectly," another accused. One other added, "Glad to know no matter how the election goes this family will still be grossly protected by their disgusting amount of wealth while the rest of us scramble to vote to save our livelihoods."
"i low key hate these people," someone wrote. A user additionally branded the wife of Travis Barker "out of touch."
That aside, Kourtney also went cheeky with her birthday cake for mom Kris Jenner. Celebrating the momager's 69th birthday, Kourtney posted on Instagram Stories a photo of a coconut cake bearing the number as well as a mixed berry gateau with the words, "Happy Birthday Kris," on it. "Can you guess which cake is from me?" Kourtney wrote over the snap, suggesting that she was the one sending Kris the cake with 69, which is also a sexual position, on it.
