AceShowbiz - Theresa Nist shared new insights into her divorce from Gerry Turner on the "Almost Famous" podcast. While distance played a role in their separation, Nist revealed that other factors contributed to the couple's decision to split.
"You really can't know somebody in four weeks. I'll just say that," Nist said, hinting that the challenges in their relationship went beyond their inability to relocate.
Nist went on to share an anecdote from one of her visits to Turner in Indiana. During a drive from the airport, she commented on potential development on open land. However, Turner's defensive response revealed differences in their views on land use, a topic that sparked further disagreement.
Regarding their initial plans to move to Charleston, South Carolina, Nist explained that they never found a suitable home. Turner then suggested a "six weeks there, six weeks here" arrangement. However, Nist desired a permanent residence where their families could visit.
"I wanted to have our home together. I was willing to move. I wanted our big home where our family could come visit us. That was what we had agreed upon," Nist said. "And then I guess, he loves his house and I don't blame him."
Despite expressing her understanding of Turner's attachment to his Indiana home, Nist reiterated that their initial plan had changed significantly. "It wasn't what we had discussed. We had never discussed six weeks here, six weeks there," she explained.
The couple's decision to divorce gained further attention after the announcement aired on "Good Morning America". Turner cited their dedication to their families as a factor in their decision to live apart, highlighting the challenges in finding a location that met both of their needs.
Theresa Nist's revelations provide a more nuanced understanding of the circumstances that led to her split with Gerry Turner. While distance played a significant role, differences in values and lifestyle choices also contributed to their separation.
