AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck spoke highly of his soon-to-be ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, amidst their ongoing divorce proceedings. Affleck, 52, who served as a producer on Lopez's new film "Unstoppable," had nothing but kind words for Lopez, 55, regarding her performance in the movie.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck appeared alongside longtime friend Matt Damon to discuss the film and its early reviews.
Comparing "Unstoppable" to his other project "Small Things Like These," Affleck emphasized the artists' passion involved in both movies. " 'Unstoppable' is a very different movie than this, but in a way, it's similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists," he mentioned.
Highlighting the dedication of the cast, Affleck couldn't help but commend Lopez along with Don Cheadle, Jharrel Jerome, and Bobby Cannavale for their compelling performances. "Jennifer is spectacular," he gushed, adding that the film is "another one that we're really really proud of."
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, marking the end of their two-year marriage. Despite their separation, the duo has continued to maintain a professional relationship. Affleck's respect for Lopez's artistry remains evident, as he stated, "We believed in the right people, and 'Unstoppable' is another example of that."
Adapted from the 2013 book "Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion," the film portrays the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who, despite being born with one leg, achieved a national collegiate wrestling championship in 2011.
Lopez plays Robles' mother, with the rest of the cast including Jharrel Jerome as Robles, Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle, and Michael Pena. Directed by William Goldenberg, the movie is set to hit theaters on December 6.
The former couple has shown that personal differences need not overshadow professional endeavors. In a previous interview while still married, Affleck expressed joy in working with Lopez, stating, "What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend."
Their collaborative project had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, mere weeks after Lopez filed for divorce. While Affleck did not attend, Lopez was present alongside other notable attendees including co-producer and Affleck's close pal Matt Damon.
Despite their separation, both Affleck and Lopez continually prioritize their professional engagements and family, setting an example of maintaining respect and professionalism amidst personal challenges.
"Unstoppable" promises to be an inspirational and powerful story, underscored by the dedication of its cast and the respectful collaboration between Affleck and Lopez. The film's release on December 6 is highly anticipated, celebrating the triumph of passion and talent over personal adversity.
