AceShowbiz - The British Palace is seemingly on high alert with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent move. As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are hinting at their move back to Europe, senior members of the royal family allegedly tried to warn Princess Eugenie, Harry's cousin and the pair's only ally in the family, to back off.
An insider told In Touch that the royal family began wary after the Sussexes bought a $8 million house in Scotland. "Eugenie was under pressure to distance herself from Meghan and Harry to prove her loyalty to the crown," said the source.
Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, however, reportedly ignored the warnings. The princess has "clearly had a change of heart and she and Jack are now doing their best to support Meghan and Harry."
Eugenie and Jack were "being strongly advised to rethink this decision," the source continued. But so far, "they're ignoring all warnings, which is being seen as very foolish on their part."
The source noted that despite their stance, the daughter of Prince Andrew did have "fear that her association with them might affect her standing within the royal family" for a while. The insider explained, "[Eugenie] feels strongly they're doing the right thing, but there's no denying it's stirring up trouble for them."
"Fact is, this is being seen as them taking the Sussexes' side and it's not sitting well with a lot of people in the Firm, particularly Camilla and William, who are convinced Meghan and Harry are still using Eugenie to get intel on the rest of the family," said the source. "They're very suspicious and let it be known that this will make Eugenie and Jack outsiders by association if they continue this close relationship with Meghan and Harry. And the more openly Team Sussex she and Jack are, the worse it's going to get."
Meanwhile, Princess Kate Middleton allegedly isn't entirely against the idea of welcoming the Sussexes back. A second source claimed that the mom of three told her husband Prince William that "this is not the time for resentment, they needed to show the world that love and family are front and center of their values."
The Princess of Wales was even said to be the reason why the Palace issued a public birthday tribute to Harry this year. The source shared that the Firm's unexpected move "meant the world to him."
