AceShowbiz - According to Argentine journalist Paula Varela, newly released security footage captured Liam Payne's fatal fall on October 16. The video reportedly shows Payne losing consciousness just before the incident, suggesting he was unconscious when he fell from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.
Varela shared her account during an appearance on "Socios del Espectaculo", a program broadcast by Buenos Aires' Canal 13. She explained that the CCTV footage supports the preliminary findings from Liam Payne's autopsy.
The autopsy had suggested that Payne "may have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness." The position of his body and the nature of his injuries indicated that he did not attempt to protect himself during the fall.
Buenos Aries emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti said, "There was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."
The footage is now in the possession of local officials, although they have not released any official statements regarding its contents. Authorities are investigating whether Payne's fall was an accident or the result of external factors.
Sources close to Payne indicate that he had encountered an environment that may have compromised his sobriety during his recent trip. According to a partial autopsy, Payne had traces of "pink cocaine" and other substances in his system at the time of his death.
An American tourist claimed that Payne had passed out shortly before hotel staff "escorted him back up to his room." Hotel staff reportedly made two calls to emergency services, emphasizing the singer's need for "urgent" assistance.
Authorities in Argentina have confirmed that they are investigating an employee at the hotel in connection with Payne's death. The employee allegedly disobeyed orders from hotel management and facilitated the delivery of substances to Payne.
Liam Payne is survived by his parents, sisters, girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and 7-year-old son Bear from his previous relationship with Cheryl Cole.
