AceShowbiz - Lil Durk has received support from his loved ones amid his legal troubles. One of his seven children, Zayden Banks, has issued a passionate statement in defense of his father following the rapper's arrest.
In the statement released via his Instagram page on Monday, October 28, Zayden highlighted his father's charity and his role as a father. "I want to take a moment to stand up for my dad, Durk Banks," the 10-year-old began. "He has always dedicated his life to uplifting others and giving back to our community through his nonprofit organization, Neighborhood Heroes. Beyond that, he is a great father who has always supported and loved our family unconditionally."
"Right now, he is facing challenges, but I want to affirm that he has not been convicted of any charges and remains innocent until proven otherwise," he continued, pleading with fans, "During this difficult time, I ask for your support for him and all the good he continues to do."
Zayden added, "I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the mayor for standing with my dad. His speech was well said and truly reflects the community's support for those who strive to make a positive impact." He concluded the statement, "Thank you, everyone!"
Zayden included in his post a video of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's speech. During a press conference, the mayor urged people to remember the principle of "innocent until proven guilty." He remarked, "Look, I don't know all the circumstances and details around these accusations. What I do know, though, is that Lil Durk's mission to build financial literacy for children across the city and making other critical investments for the children of the city [is] where his heart has been."
Lil Durk, born Durk Devontay Banks, was arrested and charged for murder-for-hire plot on October 24, following the arrests of five men believed to be affiliated with Durk's hip-hop collective, Only the Family (OTF). They are believed to be involved in the plot to murder Lil Durk's rival Quando Rondo, which resulted in the death of Quando Rondo's cousin Saviay'a Robinson.
Lil Durk's son Zayden isn't the only one standing up for him during this hard time. His longtime partner India Royale was seen attending his court hearing on Tuesday, October 29, signaling her unwavering support amid his legal woes.
