AceShowbiz - Old footage of music mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs inviting 12-year-old actress Daveigh Chase to a party has stirred controversy, sparking questions about his past behavior amid allegations that he sexually assaulted minors at his parties.
In a clip shared on Wednesday, October 23, Diddy, then 33, can be seen backstage at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards conversing with Chase. He asks, "You coming to the afterparty tonight?" while holding a drink. Diddy laughs and shouts, "Yeah!" when Chase nods in response.
The exchange occurred shortly after Diddy and Ashton Kutcher presented Chase with the Best Villain award for her role in "The Ring." Kutcher, then 25, was also present during the backstage interaction, and he laughed at the invitation.
The footage has prompted outcry on social media, with users expressing concern about the appropriateness of Diddy's behavior. Many pointed out his age difference with Chase and questioned the nature of the afterparty he was referring to.
"Diddy was literally hiding his s–t in plain sight," one Instagram user commented. Another user wrote, "The laugh made it 10,000X worse."
Following Diddy's arrest and subsequent charges for sex trafficking and racketing, Kutcher has been under scrutiny due to his past acquaintance with Diddy.
A spokesperson for Diddy dismissed the controversy, stating that "the media and social media commentators [are] twist[ing] moments into something they were not."
He has pleaded not guilty and denied any wrongdoing. He is currently being held without bail until his trial, scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
120 individuals claimed to be victims of Diddy's alleged crimes. His children have vehemently defended him, dismissing the accusations as conspiracy theories.
