AceShowbiz - In a recent interview on Joshua Citarella's "Doomscroll" podcast, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy revealed his reluctance to write songs about past relationships. After his relationship with Taylor Swift became highly publicized, Healy expressed his disinterest in using personal experiences as songwriting inspiration.
"I think that a lot of artists become very interested in their lore, or they become interested in the things that have happened outside of their art that people know about, and they want to address that," said Healy. "But I'm not interested in it."
Healy explained that he feels it would be dishonest to create music based on events that have transpired years prior. "So the idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me, that by the time I put it out is gonna be like two years old, I see people doing that as well, and it's not interesting," he said.
In contrast to Healy, Swift has openly addressed their brief romance in her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department". Songs like "loml" appear to reference their relationship, with Swift singing about a rekindled flame that ultimately fades out.
Healy currently maintains a relationship with model Gabbriette Bechtel, while Swift is dating Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
