A source close to the Oscar-winning actress clarifies that she is simply 'close friends' with the British rapper and his girlfriend, who 'has also been at every event' Angie and Akala attended.

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie and Akala's "close" relationship has been explained amid persistent dating rumors. Despite mounting speculation due to their recent public appearances together, a source has clarified that they are not dating.
The relationship between the Hollywood star and the British musician has been described as purely platonic by the source close to the actress, despite their "close" bond. The source tells PEOPLE that the Oscar winner is simply "close friends with Akala and his partner."
In fact, the source claims that Akala's partner "has also been at every event" Angie and Akala have appeared at in recent days. "They all work together," the source stresses. "Angelina remains focused on her family and is not dating at this time."
This isn't the first time the source close to Angie debunked the dating rumors. Back in August, after In Touch reported that Angie had been privately seeing Akala for "more than a year," the source insisted that they are just friends.
"She and Akala are not dating. She is friends with him and his partner, Chanelle, who was also there," the source told PEOPLE on August 29. Another source at the time said the pair have been friends for "several years" and that they "share the same passion when it comes to social and humanitarian causes."
Recently, the dating speculation was reignited after Akala attended several events in support of Angie. Most recently, the duo made public appearance at the London premiere of her new film "Maria", although they posed separately on the red carpet.
Further fueling the rumors, The U.S. Sun claimed the duo secretly spent two nights together in her hotel room. She reportedly sneaked the poet into her hotel suite in London, where they were holed up until they attended the premiere of her film.
"Angelina and Akala have been secretly spending nights together at her London hotel The Corinthia," a source told the outlet on Monday, October 21. "Angelina arrived at the hotel via the loading bay at around 8 P.M. on Wednesday before being joined by Akala at around 10 P.M."
"The pair spent Wednesday and Thursday night together inside the hotel and did not leave," the source added. "Akala was sneaked out of the hotel via one of Angelina's cars on Friday - a couple of hours before the BFI film premiere for her new movie," the informant further claimed. "They are using separate cars and secret entrances to keep their relationship under wraps, but it's the real deal."
