AceShowbiz - Marvel's "Blade" has been removed from Disney's release slate and is now delayed indefinitely while the new "Predator" film, "Predator: Badlands," will take its place in theaters on November 7, 2025.
Marvel Studios initially announced a new "Blade" film starring Mahershala Ali in 2019. However, the vampire flick has faced numerous setbacks, including the departure of two directors and multiple rewrites.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has emphasized the importance of taking their time to create the right movie.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe itself has undergone significant changes since "Avengers: Endgame," and it remains uncertain where "Blade" fits into the current narrative. With Jonathan Majors' departure due to domestic violence allegations and the altered storyline involving Kang the Conqueror, fans may have to wait longer for a resolution in the multiverse saga.
Despite the "Blade" delays, Marvel Studios has announced upcoming releases for "Avengers: Doomsday" (May 2026) and "Avengers: Secret Wars" (May 2027). Three additional placeholder slots have been added for 2028.
Meanwhile, "Predator: Badlands," the latest installment in the "Predator" franchise, will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg and star [=c=Elle Fanning]. The film marks the return of the iconic horror series to theaters after the release of "Prey" on Hulu in 2022.
"Predator" debuted in 1987 and has spawned a total of six films, including two "Alien vs. Predator" crossovers. The franchise has grossed over $750 million worldwide.
