AceShowbiz - Eva Mendes, now 50 years old, has revealed that she never felt a deep love for acting despite appearing in numerous films throughout her career. In an interview with The Times, Mendes stated, "I was never in love with acting... I don't mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn't a great actress."
Mendes' decision to step away from acting was influenced by several factors. She recalled facing typecasting due to her Cuban heritage early in her career, with roles often reduced to one-dimensional representations of her ethnicity. She also felt that her career was not aligned with her personal values and the lifestyle she desired.
Despite her departure from acting, Mendes remains proud of her collaborations with her husband, Ryan Gosling, particularly their work in "The Place Beyond the Pines" and "Lost River." She praised Gosling for bringing out qualities in her that she believes no one else can access.
While Mendes has no regrets about leaving acting, she expressed a willingness to return for a project with Gosling. She believes he inspires her to deliver exceptional performances.
Mendes has since found fulfillment in other areas of her life. She focuses on raising her two daughters, homeschooling them, and pursuing various business ventures, including designing clothes, modeling, and co-owning a sponge business. She recently published a personal picture book, "Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries."
Mendes emphasizes that her ambition has not diminished but has shifted towards her current priorities. She feels satisfied with her decision to prioritize her family and believes her acting career reached a peak with her work with Gosling.
