AceShowbiz - As Eminem is adding a new title to grandfather to his resume, his long-time friend and fellow rapper, 50 Cent, believes the Slim Shady is going to be the coolest granddad on the block.
"Oh man, he'll be the greatest grandfather," 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) told PEOPLE recently. Jackson, who just revealed his first Las Vegas concert residency, "50 Cent: In Da Club", continues, "That grandkid is gonna say, 'My granddaddy is still cool. My granddad is cool.' "
The news of Eminem's foray into grandfatherhood was beautifully captured in the music video for his recent single, "Temporary," which dropped on October 3. This touching video features home footage of Eminem's 28-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott, and culminates with a moving announcement.
Hailie Jade hands Eminem a custom Detroit Lions football jersey with "Grandpa" and the number 1 emblazoned on it, alongside a sonogram image of her soon-to-be-born child. This heartwarming gesture brought even the stoic rapper to tears.
50 Cent, who was discovered by Eminem in 2002 and subsequently signed to Eminem's Shady Records, has a unique bond with the rap icon. He even compares Eminem to his own grandparents.
"I compared him to my grandparents only because my grandmother raised me," Jackson shared. "I put Em in that space. When people help you when you can't help yourself, it resonates the strongest, and Em put me on. So he's my guy forever. I don't care."
Eminem has managed to stay at the top of his game, despite the evolving nature of the music industry. "He still didn't lose his cool. He's still the biggest rap artist in the world," 50 Cent assured fans.
"He's still in that pocket. He's still doing the same thing, still drilling it, still number one, still highest selling. He can still do it. He can still hold it," he explained, attributing this to Eminem's unwavering dedication to music. "That's because he never stopped. He stayed right there," Jackson added.
While Eminem remains steadfast in the music scene, 50 Cent is once again shifting his focus back to music with his upcoming Las Vegas residency. The residency will span six dates at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, including a special performance on New Year's Eve. "I can really go crazy with the ideas of the production, and that's what excited me about it," 50 Cent remarked.
